Artificial Intelligence Accelerates the Transition to Intelligent Water Supply
Water Resources – Marketing LLP, the largest water supply and wastewater operator in Kazakhstan providing water services to the city of Shymkent, is launching a digital modernization program for 2026–2028, reports the Kazakhstan Water Association. The program focuses on the integration of artificial intelligence, telemetry, and automation technologies to improve the efficiency of water resource management.
Key components of the program:
● Intelligent telemetry and smart metering — NB-IoT sensors, smart meters, and a unified digital monitoring system. ● Automation of pumping stations — SCADA systems, adaptive control of equipment, and reduced energy consumption. ● Digital twins and hydraulic modeling — predicting failures and optimizing repair planning. ● AI-based water quality monitoring — real-time analysis, leak detection, and prevention of technological disruptions. ● AI-driven customer service — automated processing of meter readings, digital workflows, and virtual assistants. ● Predictive asset management — repair forecasting, geo-analytics, and resource optimization.
Expected results include reduced water losses by up to 20 %, fewer emergency repairs, improved service quality, and enhanced network reliability.
