Since the beginning of 2025, water-saving technologies have been implemented on approximately 85,000 hectares of land in Kazakhstan

In the southern regions, water-saving technologies have been introduced on about 59,000 hectares, reports the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Of this area, 15,500 hectares are covered by sprinkler systems, 29,400 hectares by drip irrigation, and 14,100 hectares have been laser-leveled.

By comparison, in 2024, water-saving technologies were introduced on 158,000 hectares, with around 130,000 hectares in the southern regions.

“Last year, the Ministry increased the reimbursement share for farmers purchasing and installing water-saving technologies by 30%. A differentiated subsidy rate for irrigation water was also introduced. For those using such systems, the subsidy was increased from 60% to 85%. These technologies allow up to 30% savings in irrigation water,” said Berikbol Mandibayev, Director of the Department for Water-Saving Technology Development at the Ministry.

Currently, Kazakhstan has four domestic factories producing sprinkler and drip irrigation equipment, located in Turkistan region, Astana, and Almaty. In 2025, three more factories are planned to open in Turkistan region.
